我听闻梅尧臣的大名，
到如今已将近十年。
洛阳城下英才汇聚，
文采华美，丰沛如海。
他的声名惊动了达官显贵，
早就该参与朝政，位列朝班。
谁料想他作为幕府中的宾客，
刚刚离开了江边的县令之职。
虽然才能高超却任用得晚，
但大器终究会有展现的时候。
朝中三公认识他的人很多，
举荐提拔应该指日可待。
他在繁华的京城里奔波劳碌，
风尘仆仆，更添厌倦与疲惫。
相逢只恨相知太晚，
乍一相见，好似脱离了贫苦饥饿。
幸好有您这位邻居前来探望，
浇灭了我胸中郁结的块垒。

I've long heard of Mei Shengyu, by ear,
And now it's been almost ten years.
In Luoyang, talents gather, a grand sight,
Where literary brilliance flows like a sea, vast and bright.
His fame stirs the caps and swords, the noble and high,
Long fit to join the court, beneath the sky.
Who'd have thought, a guest within the tent,
Has newly left the river's shore, his office spent.
Though talent high, employed late in the day,
A great vessel will find its destined way.
Many among the highest lords know his name,
Recommendation and promotion will come, with little time to claim.
Restless within the capital's ninefold street,
The dust and toil make weariness complete.
Meeting now, I regret our acquaintance came so late,
Like one who's left hunger and poverty, a changed fate.
A neighbor, fortunate to have you visit me,
To pour out this pent-up stone, and set my spirit free.
