為何它們一時間鳴叫，
都能得到春風的憐愛？
它們似乎也知道造物主的心意，
不讓蟬在春天出生。
免得它們爭相聒噪，
在桃花前喧鬧紛擾。

The spring turtledove and the hundred-tongued bird,
How can their sounds be of the same year?
Yet how is it that for a time they speak,
And both win the spring breeze's affection?
They still know the Creator's intent—
Not to let cicadas be born in spring.
Thus sparing them from competing cries
And clamor before the blooming peach blossoms.
