The mirror was cast in Guangling's market fair,
The lotus-patterned case reveals its gleam.
Long ago, a promise was made to someone there,
The mirror's done, but the person's gone, it seems.
Like ice congealed into a perfect round,
Or flawless jade without a single thread.
The form it should reflect is never found,
Yet its clear light remains, undimmed, unshed.
Moved by the words of a lifetime, I recall,
Pine branches hold the autumn moon in thrall.
