那靈龜啊，潛藏在平坦的小洲。

出遊在芬芳的蓮花間，歸來背負著神蓍草。
吐故納新，還有什麼憂慮和思慮？
顯赫的王朝聚會，巍峨的天府朝廷，是謀略所依憑，吉凶所匯聚之處。
你有前世的鑑戒，你已是我的將領；你有美好的見識，你已是我的輔佐。
於是布下長網，沉下密羅，在池沼，在小洲，在江水，在支流。
既被剔剝，又被鑽灼，姑且取來供人使用，哪裡知道它的其他價值。
唉，靈龜啊，誰說你是明智的？根本（的才智）導致了末路（的喪失），性命因才華而絕滅。
山中的樹木招來砍伐，膏油的火光自我熄滅，我冒昧地陳述明白的言辭，來告誡後來的子孫。

You roam among fragrant lotuses, return bearing divine yarrow.
Exhaling the old, inhaling the new, what worries, what thoughts?
Grand are the royal assemblies, lofty the heavenly court, source of plans, gathering of fortune and doom.
You possess foresight, you are my general; you have wise counsel, you are my aid.
Thus they cast long nets, sink dense snares, in ponds, in islets, in rivers, in streams.
Carved and stripped, drilled and scorched, taken for mere utility, who knows its other worth?
Alas, sacred tortoise, who called you wise? Your root brought your end, your talent doomed your fate.
The mountain tree invites the axe, the fat flame consumes itself; I dare state this clearly, to warn future generations.
