Years passed in serene joy,
Seeking escape from heat and cold's press.
Not chasing fame or gain,
Yet fearing body and mind enslaved.
With bitter resolve I admire the Yellow Court,
Earnestly seeking the path's traces.
Cultivating hidden merit in silence,
Accumulating good deeds day by day.
On the worldly road, I met a master at last,
Whom contemporaries all failed to recognize.
My master's movements are subtle and profound,
His mind vast, his nature solitary.
He can shift the Five Phases,
And alter the Four Symbols.
He taught me the gate of creation,
So I grasped the principle of the Silent and Invisible.
Refining the dual truths,
I found the path from the very start.
Simmering sun and moon in the pot,
Never leaving the side of Heaven and Earth.
The supreme Dao is before my eyes,
Grasping it is but a footstep away.
True emptiness is not empty,
True form is formless.
Topple the jade gourd,
And out gushes the golden liquid.
Firmly grasp the crimson dragon's head,
Fiercely draw the black pearl.
Swallow it into the organs,
Seize the power of immortals.
Marvelous name: a grain-sized pearl,
Extending life by billions of years.
Fellow travelers, hear my chant,
Draw closer to the Dao with me.
Without knowing the true Yellow Sprout,
Vainly you wander the purple paths.
Seize the soul of the Red Crow,
Emerge the spirit of the Silver Toad.
If you don't grasp this mystery,
Common folk can easily misjudge.
The Three Heavens surely have a path,
The Nine Earths hold no final peril.
Guard the Dao and conceal your wisdom,
Forget cunning and blend with the crowd.
All beings, do not slight each other,
For I am already a guest of Penglai.
