All I've experienced disgusts me with cunning keen.
A rustic man facing the smell of meat and fish,
On simple vegetables often can't fill my dish.
It's not that there's no black-riced, healthful fare
To make my complexion fresh and fair.
But I lack funds for the great elixir's cost;
The mountain forests' trails seem all but lost.
You, Sir Li, a golden-gate talent, bright,
Have freed yourself to delve in deep, secluded light.
You also plan to travel to Liang and Song;
There we hope to gather jade herbs, rare and strong.
