竹筍破土而出，如游龍脫去筍殼，
徒然將頭角生長，成爲竹子的新枝。
簡直讓人懷疑是拂曉時鐵騎旌旗的景象，
又像趁著玉班列隊進入宮殿的時機。
羊酪和蓴羹的比喻真是虛言，
河豚與荻筍勉強可以相配。
無人領會竹叢的意趣，
全都屬於此君，只有我知曉。

Breaking the earth's skin, a dragon sheds its sheath to roam,
In vain it thrusts its horn, a scion of the bamboo's home.
It seems like iron cavalry with banners at the break of day,
Or courtiers in jade ranks when palaces hold sway.
Talk of lamb cheese or water-shield soup is but idle boast;
With globefish and reed shoots, bamboo shoots suit the host.
None grasp the forest's subtle charm, its deep delight—
