五年間一直想著回家卻不能回去，
故鄉的景象每每在想像中浮現，令人依依不捨。
蠶兒在村落里出生，桑葉已變黃，
麥子成熟了，田家的孩童長得胖乎乎的。
山谷中的鳥兒緩緩唱著《金縷曲》般的歌，
新生的竹筍仿佛披著老萊子那樣的彩衣。
我的一篇賦文尚未完成，如同張衡的《歸田賦》一般，
只能在國子監里徒然地吟詠著《式微》之詩。

My old garden appears in dreams, a constant, wistful light.
Silkworms are born where mulberry leaves in the village grow yellow,
Wheat ripens in farmhouse fields, where plump young children mellow.
Valley birds sing slow songs, like threads of golden rhyme,
Bamboo shoots don the old robes of a sage from ancient time.
My rhapsody, like Zhang Heng's, remains unfinished still,
I chant the "Style Declines" at court, against my will.
