蟋蟀在臺階下鳴叫，哪裡知道時節的變化，
我也無法入睡，心中思緒紛雜。
長夜漫漫，只有孤燈憐憫地與我作伴，
秋意漸涼，最先感知的定是這竹蓆的微寒。
十年來紛紛擾擾，彷彿夢中的往事，
對世間奔忙的人們，只能報以淡然一笑。
數盡更籌，窗外終於送來黎明的曙光，
起身時，只贏得兩鬢已如絲般斑白蒼蒼。

I too lie sleepless, with thoughts that come and go.
The long night pities only the lamp that keeps me company,
The autumn chill is first foretold by the mat's cool touch to me.
Ten years of restless dreams, a life in disarray,
A faint smile for the world's children, drifting day by day.
I count the night-watch tokens till the window shows the dawn,
Rising, I find my temples turned to silvery threads, forlorn.
