忍受寒冷飲食,如何能度過?
十年的雪汁凍僵了蔬菜般的腸肚,
一夜飢腸雷鳴,聽著更鼓聲聲。
不如那吏部郎官甕頭的酒能讓人清醒,
每遇到辛辣之物便清醒一分,
我願像畢卓那樣,與你同醉同醒,生死與共!
Yu's late cabbage, jade-green and tender as down;
Jincheng's native radish, fair as snow and jade-crown.
How did both fall into the jar of porcelain fine,
To be confined with vinegar gnats in dark confine?
The golden well, the silver rack, the water clear;
The snowy hills, the icy vales, the salt light and sheer.
Through autumn winds, one month's brewing brings it to birth;
Named 'Receiving Pungency,' not born of yeast's mirth.
The Confucian scholars, morn till night, toil and strive;
How can they bear the chill they eat and drink to survive?
For ten years, frozen vegetable guts with snow sauce stay;
All night, hungry thunder hears the watch-drum's beat and bray.
Better the jar-head wine that Minister of Personnel brings,
With each encounter of pungency, a sobering it sings—
