我打來井水洗滌我的衣裳，
採伐石頭加固我的院牆。
塵埃不能沾染我的身體，
斷絕了所有與人往來的路徑。
浩蕩的西江水奔流不息，
我的車駕不敢渡河而去。
難道我出發得不夠早嗎？
是怕清晨的露水太多啊。
行動與止息自有其道理，
離別與相聚也各有其時。
眾人難道沒有心意嗎？
只是不如我這般懂得止息。

And quarry stones to build my wall.
No dust may settle on my form,
No human trace may come to call.
The mighty River West flows wide,
My carriage dares not cross its tide.
