西風吹來冷雨，故意要帶來寒意；
在狹小的房間裡徘徊，卻覺得天地宇宙無比寬廣。
蘆葦已經開花，如同我衰白的鬢髮；
楓葉依然染紅，好似醉後泛紅的容顏。
人間的歲月多麼短暫，快得像羊胛骨烤熟的時間；
身外的功名利祿，不過如老鼠的肝臟一樣微不足道。
我試圖領略秋光中無限的深意；
在東籬邊，悠閒地拾取落花當作餐食。

In my small room I pace, yet the cosmos feels vast and untold.
The reeds have bloomed to white, like my thinning temples turned pale;
The maple still dyes leaves, a drunkard's flushed face, crimson and hale.
How fleeting are the days of man, swift as a sheep's shoulder blade;
Fame and merit beyond the self are but a rat's liver, a shade.
To grasp the boundless meaning of autumn's light is my quest;
By the eastern fence, I leisurely pick fallen blooms for my repast.
