I love the green hills and long to gaze at them in detail,
Why must they not be within my courtyard and my gate?
I'll just move some exquisite stones from the wilds out there,
To fashion layered hills before my window, a new estate.
Leaning on my official tablet, I can chant and sing;
With a staff of thornwood, I can still climb and explore.
Don't say that in this Daoist retreat, few visitors come—
I also have these elegant peaks to keep me company evermore.
