老上焚庭後，昆邪右衽時。

lǎo shàng fén tíng hòu， hún yé yòu rèn shí。

ㄌㄠˇ ㄕㄤˋ ㄈㄣˊ ㄊㄧㄥˊ ㄏㄡˋ，ㄏㄨㄣˊ ㄧㄝˊ ㄧㄡˋ ㄖㄣˋ ㄕˊ。

休開小月陣，罷禱拂雲祠。

xiū kāi xiǎo yuè zhèn， bà dǎo fú yún cí。

ㄒㄧㄡㄎㄞㄒㄧㄠˇ ㄩㄝˋ ㄓㄣˋ，ㄅㄚˋ ㄉㄠˇ ㄈㄨˊ ㄩㄣˊ ㄘˊ。

徒覺筋竿勁，寧聞羽檄馳。

白話文翻譯

自從匈奴單于的宮廷被焚毀以後，

匈奴的渾邪王便歸順了漢朝，改穿漢服。

不必再布設那新月形的戰陣了，

也無需去祭拜那高聳入雲的祠廟。

如今只覺得弓弩強勁有力，

哪裡還聽得到告急的軍事文書飛馳？

祁連山上處處都是積雪，

夜間應當布下鐵蒺藜作爲防禦。

After the Xiongnu's court was burned by the old chieftain,

The Hun chieftain submitted, adopting our dress and customs.

No more shall we deploy the Crescent Moon battle array,

Nor offer prayers at the temple that touches the clouds.

We only feel the strength of our bows and arrows now,

How could we hear the urgent call of war dispatches?

The Qilian Mountains are all covered with eternal snow,

And caltrops should be laid at night as a defense.
