夏天的樹木開始繁茂密集，
枝條方才長成且柔軟。
它們左右覆蓋著我的茅屋，
合起來就像張開的碧油帷幕。
新生的蟬在晴朗的午後聒噪，
餘音藏在深幽之處。
陽光轉過軒窗帶來炎炎熱氣，
清幽的樹影卻為我留存。
蚊蚋也來此取求蔭庇，
喧鬧得像稠密的春雨。
我揮手驅趕不停，
你們咀嚼叮咬，為何與我為仇？
何時才能吹來和暖的南風，
一舉將它們掃蕩收走。
我將去到那高處的樹蔭下，
在寒流邊臨水洗足。

Summer trees now grow dense and full, their leaves a thriving mass,
Their twigs and strands are supple, tender as they pass.
They spread around my cottage, left and right, a canopy so vast,
Joining like a canopy of jade oil, a verdant cast.
Fresh cicadas shrill at the bright noon, their clamor loud and clear,
Their lingering echoes hide within the depths, for only few to hear.
Through windows, the scorching sun shifts its fiery sphere,
Yet their cooling shadows for me linger here.
Even mosquitoes seek shelter beneath this leafy dome,
Buzzing thick as spring rain, finding in my space a home.
My hands keep waving, brushing them away without a pause,
Why must you bite and feast on me, without a cause?
When will the fragrant southern breeze arrive, I yearn,
To sweep and clear this nuisance in its turn?
Then I shall seek the lofty shade, a refuge cool and high,
And wash my feet by the cold stream, beneath the open sky.
