在光禿的高原上，它沐浴著春天的陽光，梳理著羽毛，
頭戴金碧的冠纓，身披彩繪的衣裳。
石上溪流瀉下輕煙，晴日裡它自顧自地映照，
巖邊的樹枝橫斜，月夜中它們相互依傍。
有時它會突然跳起笨拙蹣跚的舞蹈，
忽地又發出鉤輈格磔的鳴叫，振翅飛翔。
寄語人間那些使用弓箭羅網的人們：
瑤臺上的鸞鳳才是更好的同歸之伴。

On the high plain, it preens its feathers, playing with the spring sun's glow,
With a golden crown and colorful, painted robe it's adorned.
Over stony streams, mist drifts away, in clear light it shines alone,
On rocky branches, the moon hangs low, in the night they're closely bound.
At times, it starts a clumsy, staggering dance with sudden might,
Then suddenly, with sharp, discordant cries, it takes to flight.
I send this word to those on earth who'd hunt with arrow and snare:
The phoenix in the jade tower is a better companion to share.
