烏鴉在樹枝上鳴叫，
想要飛下來卻又屢次飛回。
忽然搶先投入鳥群前方，
因為我丟棄的肉而離去。
群鳥飛起爭相攫取，
失去之後反而表現出親近羨慕。
飢餓的鷂鷹盤旋著將要落下，
想要搶奪又前進又畏懼。
那群喜鵲多麼軒昂自得，
聚在一起聒噪如同怒罵。
斑鳩和鴿子恨自己趕不上，
盤旋著自我號叫呼喊。
庭院裡的麻雀審察得仔細明白，
知道這不是自己能夠參與的。
傍晚在堂下跳躍嬉戲，
連稗子穀粒都不屑一顧。

Wishing to descend, yet flying back to the sky.
Suddenly it dives ahead of the flock,
With meat I'd thrown, it makes a hasty walk.
The flock of birds rise up in fierce dispute,
Having lost the prize, they show fond pursuit.
The hungry kite wheels down in circling flight,
Desiring to snatch, yet hesitating in fright.
How proudly strut the magpies, full of pride,
Gathering to scold and chatter, side by side.
The doves and pigeons, vexed they can't compete,
Circle and call, their own defeat to greet.
The sparrows in the courtyard, keen and wise,
Know this is not a prize for their own size.
At dusk beneath the hall, they leap and play,
Not sparing even millet grains a look, they go their way.
