The ancients valued the path beyond convention,
Starving, they would not stoop for bean soup.
If an act was not from the heart,
They might not even remove their official caps to proceed.
How is it that people of later ages,
Make official career the craft of their lives?
How despicable, those who delight in deceiving others,
Yet still name themselves as sages.
