孟子不肯將自己與伊尹相比，
只有孔子才能期望與周文王相提並論。
聖賢內心自得，本就敦厚穩重；
庸俗之人一開始就用自己（的標準）去衡量（他人）。
微生高喜歡用諂媚的面孔詆毀他人，
臧武仲的憎惡是針對不合禮義之事。
可惜這兩個人都不懂得自重，
根據他人的認可與否來判斷，多麼不審慎周詳。

Sages, self-possessed, are naturally profound and grave;
Vulgar minds first measure others by their own gauge.
Weisheng delighted in slander with flattering face;

Alas, these two men held themselves in no esteem,
Judging others' worth without a thorough, careful scheme.
