善良的農夫手腳都磨出了厚繭，
年老的商人卻從不親自扶犁耕種。
歉收的年歲里，連米糠和酒糟都已斷絕；
高門大戶之中，犬馬卻養得膘肥體壯。
上天的本意不應被歸咎，
人世間的道理，究竟該由誰來負責？
如何才能找到那些超然物外的人，
來與我一同悲嘆這世道不公。

The good farmer's hands and feet are calloused and worn,
The old merchant never touches the plow himself.
In a lean year, even chaff and dregs are gone;
At lofty gates, dogs and horses are well-fed.
Heaven's will should not be blamed for this plight,
Human reason—who is to bear the blame?
How I wish those carefree souls would come,
And share with me this sorrow and this pain.
