東風柔弱，掌管著春天的權柄；
一陣急雨，無緣無故地轉為悲涼。
它不惜讓所有的好花都凋落在地，
卻使得遠處的野草長得與天齊平。
久伏的龍蛇應當想著奮起騰飛；
青蛙和螻蛄趁著時節已搶佔了先機。
綠柳自古以來就實在可笑——
它的葉眉因愁苦太深，竟就此長眠不醒。

The east wind, feeble, wields the power of spring;
A sudden rain, for no cause, turns to grief.
It spares no lovely flowers, all fallen to the ground,
But makes the distant grasses level with the sky.
Long dormant dragons and snakes should think to stir;
Frogs and crickets seize the hour and rush ahead.
The green willow, from of old, is laughable indeed—
Its leaf-brows, knotted in deep sorrow, sink to lasting sleep.
