Beneath the Pavilion of Heart's Delight, the path lies still,
Where once my homeward boat would moor upon the hill.
The wanderer has gone—to what far place, who knows?
While springtime grasses green in solitude still grows.
The city's roots are severed where the sea has gnawed the shore,
The sun's last rays through lengthening clouds forever pour.
The bygone days are too bitter to recall or ask—
The east wind blows o'er ruined ramparts, desolate and stark.
