黃昏鎻院聽宣除，翰長平明趁起居。

huáng hūn suǒ yuàn tīng xuān chú， hàn zhǎng píng míng chèn qǐ jū。

ㄏㄨㄤˊ ㄏㄨㄣㄙㄨㄛˇ ㄩㄢˋ ㄊㄧㄥㄒㄩㄢㄔㄨˊ，ㄏㄢˋ ㄓㄤˇ ㄆㄧㄥˊ ㄇㄧㄥˊ ㄔㄣˋ ㄑㄧˇ ㄐㄩ。

撰就白麻先進草，金泥降出內中書。

zhuàn jiù bái má xiān jìn cǎo， jīn ní jiàng chū nèi zhōng shū。

白話文翻譯

黃昏時分鎖閉翰林院，聆聽宣讀任命詔書；

翰林學士在天剛亮時就趕去侍奉皇帝的起居。

撰擬好白麻紙詔書後，先進呈草稿，

用金泥加封，然後從內廷的中書省頒降出來。

At dusk, the academy is locked to hear the imperial decree announced;

At dawn, the Chief Academician hastens to attend the morning audience.

Having drafted the white-hemp edict, he first presents the draft;

Sealed with golden mud, it is issued from the Inner Secretariat.
