我向北出行，離開了河間，
千年以來，一直懷念著那位賢明的君王。
胡麻生長在蓬草之中，
曲折纏繞，終究自我感傷。
崇尚美德的人尚且如此遭遇，
依仗才華的人更應料到會遭受摧殘。
於是懂得要暗自修養，
他們並不曾導致商朝的傾覆。
區區三代的家世，
宗廟的冊文中卻富有文章。
用空洞的言論教育子孫，
得到的福運果然不善。

Northward I journey, leaving Hejian behind,
For a thousand years, the sage king comes to mind.
Sesame grows amidst the weeds, tangled and confined,
Twisted and bent, it ends in sorrow of its own kind.
If one who loved virtue still met such a fate,
Then those relying on talent should anticipate a dire state.
Thus I learn to cultivate in silence, away from the crowd,
They did not cause the fall of Shang, nor were they proud.
A mere three generations of family, a lineage so brief,
Yet the temple records are rich with literary belief.
Teaching sons with empty words, devoid of substance true,
The legacy they gained indeed proved poor and undue.
