誰為堯舜徒,孔子而已矣。
人皆是堯舜,未必知孔子。
伯夷不辱身,柳下援而止。
孔子尚有言,我則異於是。
兼愛為無父,排斥固其理。
孔墨必相用,自古寧有此。
退之嘲魯連,顧未知之耳。
凡人工自私,翟也信奇偉。
惜乎不見正,遂與中庸詭。
退之醇孟軻,而駮荀楊氏。
至其趣舍間,亦又蔽於己。
化而不自知,此語孰雲俚。
詠言以自警,吾詩非好詆。

只有孔子,僅此而已。
人人都可以成爲堯舜,
卻未必能理解孔子。
伯夷沒有辱沒自身,
柳下惠被人勸阻便停止。
孔子尚且有過言論,
我卻與此不同。
兼愛就是沒有父親——
排斥它本是其道理。
孔子與墨子必須並用嗎?
自古以來,哪有這樣的事?
韓愈嘲笑魯仲連,
但他其實並不真正了解。
怎能在這方面被蒙蔽,
卻唯獨在那方面有見識?
世人大多工於自私,
但墨翟確實信守奇偉。
可惜他未被匡正,
於是與中庸之道相悖。
韓愈醇厚如孟子,
卻駁斥荀子和楊朱。
即便在他的取捨之間,
也還是被自己所蒙蔽。
受到教化卻不自知——
誰說這話粗俗呢?
我吟詠詩句以自我警醒,
我的詩並非喜好詆毀。
Who can be a follower of Yao and Shun?
Only Confucius, and that is all.
All men may be Yao or Shun,
But they may not know Confucius.
Bo Yi did not disgrace himself,
Liu Xia Hui stopped when pulled.
Confucius still had words to say,
But I differ from him in this.
Universal love means having no father—
To reject it is surely its logic.
Must Confucius and Mozi be used together?
Since ancient times, has there ever been such?
Han Yu mocked Lu Zhonglian,
But he did not truly understand.
How can one be blinded by this,
Yet see clearly only that?
Most men are selfish by craft,
But Mo Di was indeed extraordinary.
It's a pity he was not corrected,
And thus strayed from the Mean.
Han Yu was pure like Mencius,
Yet refuted Xunzi and Yang Zhu.
Even in his choices and rejections,
He too was blinded by himself.
Transformed yet unaware of it—
Who says this phrase is vulgar?
I chant these words to warn myself,
My poem is not meant for slander.
