昔日我曾駐馬於東方，
因而題寫了'北牖洞'之名。
來時須以風為駕馭，
去時認取北斗星作為標識的城。
太陽的熱氣直到傍晚才抵達，
雲收散後，寒意容易滋生。
我的心並非意在遊蕩閒適，
而是面朝北方，振動華美的帽纓，以表臣節。

Once I halted my eastern steed here,
Hence the name 'North Window Cave' appears.
Arriving, I need the wind as my charioteer;
Departing, I take the Dipper for my frontier.
The warmth of the sun arrives only late in the day;
Clouds disperse, and the chill easily holds sway.
My heart is not set on idle wandering free,
But facing north, I shake off dust, in duty's decree.
