河西的勇猛之士無人賞識，
日暮時分在渡口的亭子觀看過往的船隻。
路人只覺得他的青白馬瘦弱，
不知道他用的鐵矛大得像屋椽。
他因而說起西方久未發生戰事，
剪斷頭髮立志要作萬騎的先鋒。
我應當憑靠著車軾縱目遠望，
看你飛馳的箭矢射中蠻人的氈帳。

No one knows this fierce warrior from west of the river;
At dusk, he watches passing boats from the riverside pavilion.
Passersby only notice his lean piebald horse,
Unaware his iron lance is thick as a roof beam.
He speaks of the long peace in the western frontier,
Vowing to lead ten thousand cavalries, his hair cut for battle.
I shall lean on the chariot rail and gaze afar,
Watching your arrows rain upon the barbarians' felt tents.
