漢家朝廷恩准我居家休養。
我的才能如同曲社中人，實在毫無用處；
我的笨拙比起河陽令恐怕還有餘裕。
半夜裡，漂泊的魂靈隨鶴鳴而驚醒；
深秋時節，空鳴的飢腹與寒蟬同感虛寂。
誰說舔舐痔瘡不是長遠的計策？
卻因此得到了君王賞賜的五乘車馬。

Sick and gaunt, yet I have a month's grain in store;
The Han court grants me leave to dwell at home in peace.
My talent, like that of the Qu Society, is truly useless;
My clumsiness, compared to Heyang, might even be excessive.
At midnight, my wandering soul startles with the crane's cry;
In late autumn, my growling belly echoes the cicada's emptiness.
Who says licking ulcers is not a long-term strategy?
Yet it won me the sovereign's carriage with its team of five.
