嫦娥將玉屑研磨，醞釀出旃檀般的香氣，
乞求給人間在秋後觀賞。
她已在水邊對著曉月吟詠，
卻又來到花下站立到更深夜殘。
西風中手持酒杯，不要催促菊花開放，
在南國邊走邊歌，不必賦詠蘭花。
何必需要千萬斛濃郁的芳香，
只需這鼻端的香氣就足以寬解百般憂愁。

Chang'e grinds jade to brew a sandalwood perfume,
Bestowed on mortal world for viewing after autumn's gloom.
Already by the stream, she chanted at dawn's moonlit hour,
Then came beneath the flowers, standing till night lost its power.
West wind with wine in hand, don't rush the chrysanthemum's bloom,
In southern lands we sing, not praising orchids' perfume.
Why need a thousand bushels of thick fragrance so grand?
