西風正寒冷得能使膠折斷，
戍邊的士兵已經多次出動。
身著赤色軍服的偵察騎兵歸來，
輕快飄動的樣子如同鳥的羽毛。
那穹廬是他們舊日居住的地方，
距離橫亘的山路並不遙遠。
漢軍的將領究竟是誰呢？
三軍都倚仗著他周全的護衛。
在上仰賴天子的聖明，
邊疆地區因而沒有爭鬥與捕掠。
運籌帷幄有著富餘的謀略，
拉開雕花的弓弩射獵狐兔。
何必感謝那位白髮老將？
他轉身回顧，是出於對家中兒女的牽掛。

Scouts in crimson return from their ride,
Fluttering like birds' feathers in the wind.
The yurts of old where they once dwelled,
Lie not far across the mountain road.
Who knows the Han general's name?

Thanks to the Emperor's sage rule above,
The borderlands see no strife or hunt.
With strategies to spare and cunning plans,
They draw carved bows to shoot foxes and hares.
Why thank the grey-haired lord?
He turns back, caring for his children's sake.
