風沙已磨損了我舊的狐裘大衣，
騎馬歸來，途經冀州。
聽說故人可能會在路上偶然相遇，
我便臨近館舍，爲此停留等待。
來不及停車傾蓋暢談時事，
只能寄上新作的詩篇，抒寫客居的愁緒。
回頭望去，後車揚起的塵土已合攏，
簫聲清越而斷，離去如流水般不停。

Wind and sand have worn out my old fox-fur robe;
Riding back, I pass through Jizhou on my journey home.
Hearing an old friend might be met by chance on the road,
I approach the nearby inn, lingering for a while.
No time to tilt the carriage-cover and discuss current affairs—
Only to send a new poem, writing my traveler's sorrow.
Looking back, dust from the following carriage already gathers;
The flute's clear notes break off, flowing away like water.
