農忙時節已過數月，天卻不下雨；
茁壯的穀物叢中，土地龜裂如兆紋。
雲勢只是隨風聚散，不由人意；
斑鳩的鳴叫空自預報著陰晴，徒勞無益。
半生憂心國事，頭髮幾乎要白了；
連一頓飽飯都無定期，心中屢屢驚惶。
仍願秋陽化作甘霖普降，
稍稍復甦枯槁的莊稼，期盼西成之獲。

Amid the thriving grain, cracks spread like tortoise shell.
Clouds gather and disperse, merely at the wind's command;
The turtledove's call vainly foretells shade or sun.

With no sure hope of a full meal, my heart is often startled.
Yet I still pray the autumn sun may turn to sweet, soaking rain,
To slightly revive the withered crops and bring the western harvest near.
