爲何世人爭相趨附那所謂的捷徑?
何必憂愁古往今來沒有公正的評判,
只應長久痛恨天地間存在迂腐的儒生。
他們甘心與徂徠山的鬼怪爲伍,
卻不肯像王安石那樣接納浮圖(佛法)。
從來違逆與順從就區分出兇險與吉祥,
天道光明肅穆,昭昭不可欺罔。
Reason and desire are two distinct paths, clear and apart,
Why do people vie to take the shortcut, crowding the world's heart?
Do not fret that through the ages fair judgment is hard to find,
But lament that under heaven pedantic scholars cloud the mind.
They'd rather join the monstrous ghosts of Mount Culai in their lair,
Than follow Wang Anshi, who sought the Buddha's truth with care.
Since ancient times, defiance and compliance decide weal or woe,
The bright and solemn Way of Heaven—this truth none can overthrow.
