近年來怪事連連，前所未見；
河岸如今變成了深谷，深谷卻隆起爲山陵。
可憐那神龍，只能蟄伏在靈潭之中；
怎忍心看到猿猴攀上參天古木？（喻綱常顛倒，小人得志）
四年戰亂，遍地白骨；
半宵風雨，獨對一盞青燈。
我這迂腐儒生未能領會皇天的意旨，
不相信（像）荊舒（那樣的禍害）竟然最終沒有得到懲罰。

Strange events in recent years, never seen before;
The shore now becomes a valley, valleys turn into hills.
Pitiful the dragon, hiding in the sacred pool;
How can I bear to see monkeys climbing the ancient trees? (i.e., disorder and usurpation)
Four years of warfare, many bleached bones;
Half the night in wind and rain, alone with a dim lamp.
This pedantic scholar fails to grasp Heaven's intent,
Unwilling to believe Jing and Shu went unpunished in the end.
