聽說那座名園裡，依然生長著修長的竹子，
繁花壓著傾頹的牆垣，竹筍穿透了屋頂。
雨水痕跡半掩著牆壁間的題詩，
飢餓的老鼠在樑上跳躍，狐狸在白天啼叫。
前人已被後人所嘲笑，
後人又會讓誰來哀悼呢？
唉！全盛之時能維持多久，奈何衰敗如此之快，
古人的興盛與廢敗，是多麼頻繁啊。

I hear the famed garden still nurtures its slender bamboos,
Flowers weigh on crumbling walls, shoots pierce through the roof.
Rain stains half conceal the verses on the wall,
Starving mice leap on beams, foxes wail by day.
The ancients are already laughed at by those who come after,
Who, in their turn, will be mourned by whom?
Alas! How brief the zenith, how relentless the decay—
How countless are the rises and falls of the ancients!
