In the Jianwu era, integrity was prized anew,
Yet the wild slave's demeanor remained as before.
What matter was the Guest Star once again?
In one night, it stirred the celestial measure.
The winds of reputation stirred a decaying age,
Together they met their end, trapped by factional strife.
Yet within five hundred li,
There gathered men of virtue.
Step by step, I gaze toward the Star of Virtue,
Heading into the Gaoyang neighborhood.
When virtue shines bright, the stars mark the time,
The net of the age cannot ensnare it.
What preserves the primal breath of life
Lies precisely where the hairpins meet.
Thus we know that the kind of loyal and wise,
Heaven always casts its gaze upon.
Two elders chose to live in obscurity,
Yet all within the seas rose to honor them.
Like descendants in their conduct,
They already possessed the hall of state's capacity.
Deeply hoping to bear the world's way,
They awaited each other to support the nation's course.
The imperial road was rugged and perilous,
The overturned carriage must be urgently righted.
With bare hands, one merely holds clods of earth,
How could they stem the torrent's furious rush?
To linger and leave traces was to save the times,
How could they bear to blame it all on fate?
Some matters reach the utmost difficulty,
Ultimately defying what Heaven bestowed.
In Runan, the hall's plaque stands grand,
In Kaoting, their images grace silk.
The chamber holds the tale of gathered stars,
Far and wide, it competes to spread the story.
My old eyes suffer dimness and haze,
Seeing the painting as through a mist.
I roll it up, sit and heave a sigh,
Ice and fire disturb a hundred cares.
