遊人們為何事去種植那些芬芳的花草？
且試著拿庭院中的松樹來比較盛與衰。
得到適宜的土壤卻不改變天生的資質，
有心志只與歲末的嚴寒相約相期。
在滿院野趣中栽培之後，
到了十月霜降時節，它正秀美茂盛。
造化的力量果真能周遍地惠及萬物，
也應當讓高大的枝條牽引至千丈之姿。

Why do visitors plant flowers, fragrant and fair?
Compare the courtyard pine with them in rise and fall.
Its place won't change the nature heaven did confer;
Its heart only with winter's cold keeps tryst withal.
After its planting in a plot of rustic hue,
By the tenth month's frost, it stands flourishing and tall.
If Nature's power indeed can nurture all things well,
It must let towering branches grow a thousand feet in all.
