一夜茅簷雨，晨興乃爾涼。

yī yè máo yán yǔ， chén xīng nǎi ěr liáng。

ㄧㄧㄝˋ ㄇㄠˊ ㄧㄢˊ ㄩˇ，ㄔㄣˊ ㄒㄧㄥㄋㄞˇ ㄦˇ ㄌㄧㄤˊ。

禽魚皆遂性，草木自吹香。

qín yú jiē suì xìng， cǎo mù zì chuī xiāng。

微潤生琴薦，纖塵避筆牀。

一夜的雨水從茅屋簷上滴落，

清晨起來，竟感到如此涼爽。

飛鳥和游魚都順應著自己的天性，

草木自然地散發著清香。

微微的溼氣浸潤了琴墊，

纖塵也避開了筆牀。

悠然自得，興起北窗高臥的閒情，

真想傲視那上古的羲皇。

Rain dripped all night from the thatched eaves,

At dawn I rise to find the air so cool.

Birds and fish all follow their nature's course,

Grass and trees waft their fragrance on their own.

A gentle dampness moistens the lute mat,

Fine dust retreats from the brush-holding stand.

Leisurely, I feel the joy of the north window,

Truly wishing to outdo the ancient sage.
