夜晚我走出茅草堂屋，自己撤去門閂；
烏藤手杖與我，兩者都孤單伶仃。
清涼的月亮吐露光暈，籠罩千丈之廣；
老樹移動的樹蔭，幾乎能鋪滿整個庭院。
隔著水岸，聽到棲息鳥兒的嗚咽鳴叫；
靠近屋簷，數著飛來飛去的點點流螢。
我放翁尚與千載前的古人論交爲友；
不取梁鴻，便取管寧那樣的高潔之士。

My black cane and I, two souls lonely and poor.
The cool moon exhales a halo vast and wide;
The old tree shifts its shade to fill the courtyard's side.
Across the creek, I hear roosting birds softly cry;

As a friend to the ancients, I span a thousand years;
I'd choose Liang Hong or Guan Ning, not the courtier's cheers.
