停船在鄂州的碼頭，
整日如同被火烘烤。
搖扇搖得手腕快要脫臼，
揮灑的汗水如白雨翻飛。
推開枕頭再三起身，
披散頭髮來到前廊。
秋天臨近更漏聲顯得漫長，
天氣乾旱星宿格外繁多。
甘霖何時才能到來，
我嘆息著爲百姓憂慮。

How can I tell of this oppressive plight?
My boat moors by the shore of Ezhou town,
All day I feel as roasted in a fire.
My wrist grows sore from waving my round fan,
And sweat pours down like pelting summer rain.

And by the front porch loose my hair to air.
As autumn nears, the water clock drips slow;
The drought drags on, the stars shine thick and bright.
When will the welcome showers bless the land?
I sigh, concerned for people's bitter woe.
