病弱的老人精神萎靡，兩鬢的頭髮已如銀絲。
縱然縱情飲酒，也已不再有年少時的夢想，
在夜涼之時讀書，卻依然感到力不從心。
審問囚犯損耗元氣，可嘆有誰掛念？
研習道學、掏空心智，只恐怕為時已晚。
在清澈的溪邊買只仙鶴，歸隱的計劃已然充足，
寄去消息，先讓老朋友知曉。

A sick old man, listless, with hair at his temples turned to frost.
Drinking my fill, I no longer dream the dreams of youth,
Yet reading books, I still fail the coolness of the night.
Questioning prisoners saps my spirit—who cares to notice my sigh?
Cultivating the Way, I hollow my heart, fearing it is already too late.
I'll buy a crane by the clear stream, my plan to retire is settled,
I send word ahead to let my old friends know.
