手持酒杯，我在孤亭中停留了半日；
西巖獨自佔盡了鶴山的秋色。
我也知道這絕美的境地終究難以用文字描繪，
姑且欣喜於這閒散之身得以縱情遊覽。
隼從高險的巢穴中驚起，不時發出磔磔的鳴叫；
鹿在深澗中鳴叫，傍晚時分傳來呦呦之聲。
人生只有內心感到愜意才是真正的快樂，
那些豪門甲第、硃紅大門不過是自我囚禁罷了。

I linger at the lonely pavilion, wine in hand, for half a day;
The Western Cliff commands the autumn scene of Crane Hill all alone.
I know this wondrous realm can hardly be described in words,
Yet I rejoice that my free self can wander here at will.
A falcon startles from its perilous nest, crying harshly now and then;
A deer calls from the deep ravine, its plaintive voice heard at dusk.
Life is a joy only when the heart finds its contentment;
Grand mansions with vermilion gates are but self-made prisons.
