清澈的汴河蜿蜒流過舊日的京城，
宮牆上的春草已經生長了多少回。
即使剖開我的心，也寫不盡孤臣的悲憤，
挖出我的眼睛，終要看到這些敵人被平定。
天地固然能暫時容忍這些小丑，
但寇戎之族向來慣於褻瀆盟約。
在蓬草窗下，我雖年老，仍懷有橫掃敵寇的謀略，
不敢隨同他人空談罷兵求和。

The clear Bian River winds through the ancient capital's remains,
Spring grass on palace walls has sprouted countless times.
To bare my heart cannot express this lone courtier's rage;
Gouging out my eyes, I'd see these foes subdued at last.
Heaven and Earth may tolerate such petty clowns awhile,
But northern hordes are wont to break their solemn oaths.
By my thatched window, old, I hold a strategy for conquest,
And dare not join the crowd in clamoring for peace.
