在故鄉的山中,有誰陪伴我隱居在茅屋呢?
幸好還有我家這個耳朵大大的孩子。
在昏暗的雨夜,我們對著小窗分頭進行夜間的功課;
大雪迷濛,我們一同拿著長鏟,忍受著早晨的飢餓。
在求取功名的考場尚未成功,豈能妨礙學問的追求?
史官的時限雖然嚴格,也不能讓我停止作詩。
我死後,你應當繼承這學問的衣鉢;
努力保持愚拙與正直,來報答這清明的時代。
Who in my native hills would share my thatched hut's solitude?
I'm blessed to have my son, with ears so large, a virtuous brood.
Through rain-dimmed windows, we share nightly lessons by the light;
When snow blinds the long spade, we face morning hunger's plight.
Though fame's arena yields no triumph, why should learning cease?
Though history's bounds are strict, they cannot make my verses peace.
When I am gone, you must inherit this mantle of the mind;
Strive to uphold simplicity and truth for this bright time assigned.
