竹轎送客經過江邊的村落，
一座小寺空無一人，寺門半掩。
古老的佛像背靠牆壁，塵灰漠漠；
孤燈照亮殿堂，雨中光線昏昏沉沉。
我欣喜地投宿禪榻，姑且尋覓一夢；
懶得再爲啼叫的猿聲而傷心斷魂。
要識得人間盛衰的道理，
請看岸邊的沙痕，先生，那是去年留下的印記。

Too weary to be heartbroken by the apes' mournful cries.
To understand the principle of worldly rise and fall,
