天剛亮時才喔喔啼鳴。
勤快與懶惰各有它們的本性，
對我而言，何必厚此薄彼。
給它們一些糠和碎米，
姑且以此慰藉它們的寂寞。

How vigilant the little dog appears,
Barking day and night by the fence it steers.
The old rooster, however, is not the same,
Only at dawn does it crow, a steady flame.
Diligence and sloth are each one's nature true,
Why should I favor one, the other eschew?

To comfort their solitude within my reach.
