上天原本就沒有賜予滿山谷的羊，
也不勞煩用粱肉玷汙我清簡的腸胃。
忽然在客人的鍋里嘗到蓴羹鮮美，
遙想起山中廚房麥飯的香氣。
正好有一竹籃食物本就自覺滿足，
縱然被嘲笑只有三韭（指粗陋飲食）又有何妨。
江邊煙霧籠罩的山峯下是參差小路，
便喚來漁舟，不必收拾行裝。

Heaven never granted me a valley full of sheep;
Nor do I trouble my frugal gut with fine meat and grain.
Suddenly, at a guest's pot, I taste the lovely water-shield soup;
And from afar, I recall the fragrant wheat-rice from my mountain kitchen.
Having just a single basket of food is contentment enough;
Even if mocked for my meager fare, what harm is there?
By the river, mist-veiled peaks line the winding path;
I'll call a fishing boat at once, with no need to pack.
