東家的雲從山巒間飄出，
西家的房屋被半山腰的雲霧籠罩。
西家有泉水落入山澗，
東家傳來玉佩碰撞的清脆聲響。
隔著幾道稀疏的籬笆相對而望，
各自都有三間茅草屋。
芹菜羹湯和麥子做的飯食，
每日都不曾中斷彼此的往來。
兩家的兒女親密如同一家人，
連雞犬都顯得自在悠閒。
我也想要尋覓這樣的地方爲鄰，
請你不要吝嗇，留出些空地給我吧。

Clouds from the eastern house drift over the peak,
The western house is half veiled by the mountain's mist.
From the western house, a spring falls into the ravine,
While the eastern house echoes with tinkling jade pendants.
Facing each other across a few sparse fences,
Each has its own thatched cottage of three rooms.
With celery soup and barley rice for meals,
Not a day passes without visits back and forth.
Our children mingle as if from one family,
Even the chickens and dogs share a carefree ease.
I too long to choose such neighbors to live near,
Please, do not begrudge a little extra space.
