袖手坐在東窗下，初升的太陽一片光明，
殘舊的書籍沒有辜負我這老書生。
實在多病，難以忍受寒雨的天氣，
正是一場霜後，才迎來暢快的晴空。
佃戶送來魚羹，提著鮮紅的鯉魚；
鄰居借用石臼，舂搗新收的粳米。
莫要怪罪柴門荊扉沒有車馬往來，
恰是想要無人認識我的姓名之時。

The old scholar hasn't failed his worn-out books, it seems.
Too sick to bear the chill of rain, I long for clear skies,
And now a frost has brought the fine weather I prize.

A neighbor borrows my mortar to pound new rice white.
Don't blame my rustic gate for lacking carriage and horse—
