九月癸酉日的傍晚，
一條白龍出現在西方天空。
那時已經晴朗了許久，
太陽剛落，天色正顯蒼茫。
澄澈的天空沒有一絲雲彩，
白龍獨自凌空高高飛翔。
它蜿蜒盤旋許久才隱沒，
父老們嘆息從未見過這般景象。
清朗的靈台占卜著五行變化，
這件事確實非同尋常。
我並非劉向那樣的博學之士，
姑且用這篇短章記錄下這奇觀。

At dusk on Guiyou day, the ninth moon's phase,
A white dragon in the western sky appears.
The time was clear and fine for many days,
The sun just set, the heavens pale and sheer.
The jade-like sky holds not a wisp of cloud,
Alone it soars on high, serene and proud.
It coiled and writhed, then vanished from the sight,
The elders sighed, ne'er seen such wondrous light.
The observatory charts the five elements' play,
This event is truly extraordinary, they say.
I am no Liu Xiang, scholar of old renown,
But briefly note it down in this short verse of mine.
